Homework assignment

My creative writing class’s homework assignment this week was to write a story about going to a party in the first, second, and third person. I hope you enjoy the stories, please leave feedback in the comments 🙂

You always sing along with the radio while riding in the car. Your voice sounds like safety and love. The car stops, and you wonder aloud, “Why are we stopping here?”

A faint, loving voice replies, “We have a surprise for you.” You struggle to get out of the car, rocking forward and back, and then sway left and right in a soothing forward motion. You stop walking, and then there is a loud knock. A whisper of silence hangs in the air.

Your heartbeat quickens, the creaky door opens, and you gasp with anticipation. A booming “Surprise” is heard. You are clapping with joy, your laughter filling the room with a gentle, melodious embrace.

It’s time to celebrate you Mommy, I can’t wait to see you!
