Blessed is an understatement. I feel absolutely blissful and fortunate for my relationship with my daughter. She has always been such a kind and loving girl, and now that she is an adult, I consider her one of my best friends.
I told her I would pick her up for our weekly lunch date. She has no idea that we are throwing her a surprise baby shower. We decided to wait until the week before her due date to throw her off. First babies always come late anyway.
I just love how she still sings with the radio in the car. It brings me right back to when she was a teenager. I stop the car in front of her best friend Marcy’s house.
“Why are we stopping here? “ I see the wheels begin to turn as she starts to suspect.
Walking around the car, I open the door for her. “We have a surprise for you”.
Gently sliding her legs to the door, we do a one, two, three, and get her to her feet. I watch her waddle up the walkway, looking pretty uncomfortable.
One thing I know for sure is that my daughter loves surprises, and today will be the best one yet.
